BK7 Light Pipe Prisms

The light pipe prism is an optical component used for guiding and distributing light, typically made of transparent materials such as glass, acrylic, or polycarbonate. Currently, Yutai Optics only manufactures light pipe prisms from optical glass. Its core function is to alter the light path through refraction, reflection, or total internal reflection (TIR), efficiently transmitting light from the source to the target area.

Structure and Design Features of Light Pipes

Geometric shape: common configurations include cylindrical, conical, polygonal prism, or custom-designed forms. Surfaces may incorporate textures, prism arrays, or microstructures to optimize light distribution.
Material selection: requires high light transmittance and low scattering properties.
Optical treatment: some light pipes feature anti-reflective or reflective coatings to minimize losses, while others employ diffusive treatments to achieve uniform light output.
