BK7 dove prism is a classic dove prism made of BK7 optical glass, widely used in optical imaging, laser systems, and instrumentation, primarily for image rotation or adjusting the direction of the light path.
What are the applications of BK7 (K9) dove prism?
Image Rotation (180°): corrects image orientation in telescopes, microscopes, or laser scanning systems.
Beam Folding: alters the beam path in compact optical systems to save space.
Laser Systems: used for laser beam steering, but note BK7’s laser damage threshold (~10 J/cm² @ 1064 nm, 10 ns pulse).
Optical Instruments: employed in interferometers, spectrometers, etc., for beam adjustment or aberration compensation.

UV: Fused Sillica(SiO2), CaF2.
VIS: BK7(n=1.52), K9.
IR: Silicon, Germanium, ZnSe.
